The US economy shrank in the past quarter reversing direction from the previous quarter. Unemployment is trying to escape its downward trend, with the headline rate ticking up to 3.7%. Workers’ earnings continue to fall, with average earnings declining to $1,116/week. Rental vacancies continue to fall, with the national rate ticking down to 5.6%. Home ownership continues to rise, with the national rate climbing up to 66%. Home building applications continue to rise this month and quarterly housing prices continue to rise a further 6.8%.
